EveNSteve's Monumental and Historical works begin with the exploration of the visual nature of a site, through in-camera collage that can sometimes span the entire length of a roll of film, or in multiple panoramic panels. Historical works entail research into the culture of a site— uncovering letters, newspaper articles, diaries, poems and speeches, which inspire or may be combined with imagined histories or fictional “micro-stories.” Photographs are printed on rare and handmade papers from around the world.

Hand-written text is applied in, on, and around the imagery to add context, texture and depth to the works. As if the viewer has been watching a silent film and then suddenly found the soundtrack, the handwritten words on the surface bring the viewer in to another understanding of the environment which is depicted.
